Now, because the smartphone comes with a 48-megapixel sensor, it might have some believe that it takes 48-megapixel shots by default but that is not the case. The OnePlus 7 Pro, much like many 48-megapixel sensor bearing smartphones takes a lower resolution photograph by default (12 megapixels, to be exact). And these are very high-quality shots as well. But what if you want to take a 48-megapixel shot with your OnePlus 7 Pro? Unlike some smartphones that have the option right up front on the camera UI, the OnePlus 7 Pro has actually buried the feature under a fold of settings. Which makes it very difficult to find. Which is why we have a simple step by step guide to help you take a 48 megapixel shot with your OnePlus 7 Pro:
Step 1: Open your camera app on the phone
To take a picture you obviously have to launch the camera app. So wake your OnePlus 7 Pro up and tap on the camera icon to get it going. The OnePlus 7 Pro’s camera app offers a number of modes on the lower part, but you do not need to worry about that. Stick to the default “photo” mode.
Step 2: Swipe up
When you are on the Photo mode, just swipe up from the base of the viewfinder. You will find a small upward arrow on the lower part of the viewfinder, just above the modes. All you have to do here is swipe up from it to get another set of modes that the camera app offers.
Step 3: Ignore Settings, select Pro Mode
Now, while many smartphones put the option to switch between a 12 megapixel shot and 48-megapixel shot right up front (like the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Note 7S), some keep it in the camera settings as well. But that is not the case with the OnePlus. The brand has hidden the feature away in the Pro mode. So, resist the temptation to select the Settings and hit the Pro mode icon.
Step 4: Select “JPG”
Once you select the Pro mode on your OnePlus 7 Pro, your camera interface will look nothing like the humble camera mode that it initially was. Now, options like ISO, WB (white balance), aperture will rule your interface. No need to get intimidated, because what you are looking for is placed right among the four options on top of the viewfinder, labeled JPG. Select JPG.
Step 5: Get into the 48 MP zone
And you are almost there. Selecting JPG will give you three options – JPG, JPG 48 MP and RAW. No prizes for guessing which option you need to go for!
Step 6: Point and shoot!
