InFocus has recently announced Kangaroo, a new Windows 10 portable PC that can be yours for as low as $99. Kangaroo is touted as the world’s smallest portable desktop computer, having the following dimensions – 124mm length, 80.5mm width, and 12.9mm girth. This is pretty much the size of a smartphone. The device weighs just 200 grams, so this is truly a portable computer that you can anywhere you go. Kangaroo has a removable base unit with an HDMI port, one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, and a DC power port. There’s even a Windows Hello fingerprint sensor inside the unit, which is impressive judging its price. Here’s how the rest of its main specs look like:
Quad-core Intel ‘Cherrytrail’ Atom x5-Z8500 processor clocked at 1.44GHz, with a Burst frequency of 2.24GHz 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM 32GB of eMMC storage (expandable via microSDXC card up to 128GB) Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity Micro-USB port for charging
The mini PC also comes with a battery which is said to last for four hours under “casual use.” One big downside is that there’s no Ethernet port, so you must rely on the dual-band 802.11ac WiFi. Bluetooth 4.0 allows you to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse, thus giving you the option to attach some more devices to its two USB ports. The device comes with a HDMI cable which allows you to connect it to an external screen. There’s even a free iOS software that you could use to connect to an iPad. The company said they already plan on having many more docks that support different types of ports in a new version. Kangaroo is available for purchase in the United States from online retailer Newegg.com and it should be available at Microsoft stores starting mid-November.
