The leaks also involve the pricing of the new Nexus 7 and given the fact that we’re nearing Google’s event on July 24, this makes the new information seem pretty legit. Google didn’t announce the successor to the Nexus 7 at its annual I/O conference, therefore we have all the reasons to assume they will do so on the upcoming event, called “breakfast with Sundar Pichai“. If you don’t know, Sundar Pichai now oversees Android’s development after Andy Rubin’s leave. A new Android version might be unveiled, as well; and, who knows, maybe the Moto X?

Is this the new Nexus 7?

As far as we know, this might very well end up being just a prototype, but most likely, even if it is a prototype, it should be pretty close to reality. Find below a gallery with leaked pictures (video at the end) of Nexus 7’s successor, obtained by AndroidCentral. If you remember, there were enough leaks with the original Nexus 7, as well, but when the retail version came out, it did manage to raise a few eyebrows. A product that is heavily leaked, no matter the excitement around its launch, loses a lot of its surprise factor if it simply confirms the rumors. Let’s also have a look and discuss Nexus 7’s successor pricing and specs.

Possible pricing and specs for the new Nexus 7

Just like the first Nexus 7, the new model also seems to be manufactured by Asus, despite of various rumors on this matter that suggested Google might side with a different OEM. WiFi-only versions will definitely be cheaper, but most of us will obviously look for the models with cellular data connections, because, how else to enjoy Internet on-the-go, right? According to a leaked inventory screen, also obtained by AndroidCentral, the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 will be priced at $229 and the 32GB version at $269. We don’t have yet details on what models these are, but let’s hope they will also come with 4G, or at least 3G. And the prices are actually quite good, if you consider the leaked specs:

Engadget was also tipped off and it seem that retailers like OfficeMax will start getting the renewed Nexus 7 version from July 20, which is so close. Perhaps we’ll see some more leaks, as that happens. Until then, I will leave you with the leaked video, as promised, of what seems to be Nexus 7’s successor.

PhoneArena has obtained an image which clearly shows BestBuy retailing the new Nexus 7. The imagage confirms that the new 16GB model will retail for $229 and that it will have the display resolution at 1920×1200. BestBuy is said to start selling the new Nexus 7 from July 30. The “infamous” evleaks has done it again, bringing 2 images of the Nexus 7 successor, one of them showing a notification light.
