The Nest Mini has a pretty similar, puck-shaped design as the Home Mini that has turned out to be one of the key selling points for the Home Mini. It is made with the same polycarbonate material as the Home Mini and has a fabric layer on top, and comes in two color options: Chalk and Charcoal. One of the changes that Google says is noticeable with the Nest Mini is in terms of audio. According to Google, the Nest Mini equips the latest custom driver and leverages its proprietary software to offer much better audio experience with more details, natural sound, and two times stronger bass than the Home Mini. What’s interesting is that the speaker can now recognize the background sound and change its volume accordingly. So, for instance, if there is a TV playing in the background, the speaker can recognize the noise and read out the news in a louder volume. Besides audio, the new speaker claims to be smarter and faster too. It embeds a dedicated machine learning chip that offers one TeraOPS of processing power, which Google says allows the device to respond to commands in a more accurate and quick manner. The new speaker also introduces support for the intercom feature, which allows you to talk to anyone at home using Nest smart speakers and displays, and offers the same ‘Hey Google’ functionality found on other smart devices that allows for quick and easy access to the voice assistant. Nest Mini can be used with a wide range of smart home devices from brands such as Philips Hue, Syska, etc, which allow you to control devices at home simply with a voice command. In addition, the smart speaker also offers support for some of the popular music streaming services like YouTube Music, Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, and Wynk.
