ZTE announced this phone at the ongoing IFA 2015, and the company has also unveiled a more premium Axon Pro version which is designed in U.S and will be sold in the U.S market. The Axon Pro is being billed as a premium offering which is punchy enough to take on other premium flagships at a seemingly affordable price point of $450. The Axon Elite comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back just below the camera unit. Additionally, the phone can also be unlocked via a scan of your eyes, somewhat similar to the Intel’s Realsense. The methods of unlocking doesn’t just stop here (sigh!) as we also have a voice actuated unlock feature which will require the user to tell the code word in order to unlock the device. The technicality behind the features is still not clear, and we are also not yet sure of how secure the unlocking techniques are. I personally harbor a feel that it is a overkill to have so many methods to unlock the phone, till fingerprint scanner it was ok, but I started losing the plot as we moved on to Eye scanner and Voice actuated unlocker. The Axon Elite is fitted with a 5.5-inch FHD display as opposed to the Axon Pro which comes with a QHD display. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 810 and it comes laces with a 3GB of RAM. On the storage front, Axon Elite offers 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. ZTE has treated the top and bottom area of the Axon Elite with a faux leather finish which resembles the one Samsung Galaxy Note 3 came with. Imaging department is handled by a 13-Megapixel primary camera unit and a 8-Megapixel front camera unit, the primary unit can record videos at a 4K resolution. The Axon Elite will be made available in Ion Gold color and will start retailing in UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain through eBay at $470 by the end of September.
